SACREDGROVE 2005 / 2006
500m x12m x 5m
45 trees, water-based pigment, grass
Sacred Grove explores our perception of 'the forest' and its relationship to art, society and the environment. Using colour, the artist transforms trees from landscape backdrops into a cathedral-like sacred space.
A reverential work, the ebb and flow of people arriving and leaving extends the art into a living performance, reminding us of our own small place in the environment.
"The process by which a vision is realised is part of my creative thinking, a progression through different stages of development until a concept becomes tangible and real. The engagement with people an extension of self-thought, so every artwork created is a synthesis of people, creativity and environment."
